In a nut shell

Light is a process of illumination; whether it comes from natural sources such as the sun and stars, or man-made sources (through electricity) such as, the bulb - lamps e.t.c, it enables and enhances sight. Although it is predominantly associated with daytime, it is in the dark that light is most needed as this is when you can't naturally see -  ironically creating a never ending cycle of light usage.

The study of light and the interaction of light and matter is termed 'optics'. The observation and study of optical phenomena such as rainbows and the Aurora Borealis offer many clues as to the nature of light as well as beauty.

__The Physics__

Light is electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength that is visible to the human eye (in a range from about 380 or 400 nanometres to about 760 or 780 nm). The ways in which we see and use it derive from processes such as, Radiation, Reflection and Refraction.

__Association__
  • Sight
  • Spirituality - the idea of being free and happy
         -or-
                            death (white light, heaven)
  • Fame - 'Spot' light, 'Lime' light (both have connotations of happiness, confidence and popularity but; a 'spot' light is ironically isolating, lonely and vulnerable; leaving you no where to hide when you're in it.
  • Attraction - when something is lit up it grabs your ATTENTION
  • Warning - Traffic lights, mean stop. Flashing lights indicate danger or point out hazards.
  •  Decoration - Christmas lights for example.
  • It draws creatures such as insects to it e.g. moths, flies e.t.c. Fire flies emmit their own light, as do glow worms.
  • Brightness
  • Darkenss
  • Shadows
  • Natural spectacle:
  • Lightening
  • Rainbow
  • Heat - the sun, fire, volcanoes.
  • Movement - (light travels)
