-Concept-
After watching and analysing the two films; 'The Birds', and 'Breathless' I focussed on the theme of 'the fear of not being in control'.
Taking it on in my own direction; I looked in to religion and how people can live their lives through it despite maybe not realising how it takes over their lives - Every day becomes a quest to please a God, in order to not be punished in after life or presently.
-FEAR...

The fact that people do this willingly and obliviously shows how religion has taken control of their lives.
-Control.

All in all; Full circle back to the, 'fear of not being in control'.

As there are so many religions and sub beliefs I homed in on Catholicism, focussing my attention on a Saint who only lived to worship God: St. Bernadette.
After a gruelling death of TB, her body was discovered 30 years later in the Grotto in Lourdes completely immaculate and preserved.
She and the site are now of great Holy significance to Catholics around the world (for her work during life and her story - look her up because it's very interesting!)

Through researching St Bernadette and the Grotto in Lourdes I came up with my collection basing it on the ideas of PURITY, PRESERVATION, HOLYNESS and DECAY.
-Working with draped shapes, organic silhouettes, LAYERS and SIMPLICITY.
Fabrics: (mainly white in colour) Cotton, Chiffon, Waxed Barbour cottons and merino wool.
